Technology Overview
The
infrastructure required to deliver a Digital Signage
network changes depending on the number of venues.
Typically, for small deployment you might use ADSL
Broadband and for large deployments like Tesco TV,
the natural choice would be to use satellite.
ADSL
Broadband
If
using ADSL, the content is pushed to each player
individually (unicast) although the distribution
happens simultaneously up to the limit of your
network bandwidth. A
topology like this also allows us to active monitor
the health of the players and any network components
along the way.

ADSL can
scale to a large number of venues if required but
often, the most efficient distribution technology is
Satellite. Innov8 already manage some of the worlds
largest Satellite based Digital Signage networks
such as Tesco TV and ‘The Life Channel’.

Satellite Delivery
Satellite
brings the benefit of Multicast delivery meaning
that the same content can be distributed to all
venues at the same time using the same bandwidth.
The addition of a Broadcast server opens up powerful
delivery tools so allow us to benefit from Multicast
delivery. Multicast enables us to address single,
groups or all venues.

Even for
small deployments you will likely require different
content on differing venues and have gained a great
deal of experience with this type of distribution.
